New Translation Update

One of my IPF friends posted this on his Facebook profile. I think it's a pretty interesting way of approaching the up-and-coming translation of the Mass. Enjoy!

  1. All I am going to touch is the review process. My profession deals with a similar review process that eventually makes its way from me through about 40 layers before the Secretary of the Air Force approves it.

Knowing my profession well, when I author something, it is precise, says what I mean, and the diction used is there for a reason. After only a couple levels of review, the document usually reads entirely different and can mean something that is contrary to the first form.

I can only imagine the differences in the initial "literal" translation and the final product. Here's an idea - how about using the original Latin from before they changed everything in the 60's...

  2. I may be wrong here, but if both the original and translated editions must be found compatible by the same source, it is a much more sure translation than if a transcript begins at one source and ends in another that is far removed.
