The following is a 'homilette' given on June 20, 2014.
Beauty, they say is in the eye of the beholder, yet darkness cannot be dispelled without the rays of light to shed its way. And those same rays must meet the gaze of him who looks as well.
So then, should we heed the words of Christ, who told us on what to set our sights?
If not, then lost in moth and rust our lives will be; lives lived on the cusp of nothingness that chains each one of us to pleasures and greeds that readily speeds our path to loneliness.
Yet if so, then by his hand he’ll bring us to stand in the light; a light that pierces the darkness. It is then that we’ll realize what beauty can be, for beholding it face to face we’ll see:
It is He.
