"May Peace Reign in Your Walls"

Today, the Holy Father, Pope Francis, has asked all the local churches of the world to pray for peace, particularly for peaceful resolution to the Syrian conflict.  At 7pm Rome Time (Noon CST), he will begin the "Vigil for Peace."

Regardless of our religious leanings, let us join together today to pray for peace.  Let us fast; let us do charitable works; let us do all things without argument.  Ultimately, let us be an example of what God wants for us.

This all reminds me of a psalm used during Mid-morning Prayer in the Liturgy of the Hours: Psalm 122, particularly verses 6 and following.  May God's Word direct our lives today:

For the peace of Jerusalem pray:
“Peace be to your homes!
May peace reign in your walls,
in your palaces, peace!”

For love of my brethren and friends
I say: Peace upon you.
For love of the house of the Lord
I will ask for your good.
