Today is the traditional Feast of the Death of St. Benedict. As is custom here at St. Meinrad, this day was treated with the greatest solemnity, giving witness to the example and longevity of St. Benedict and his message of hospitality and Christian charity.
Today, the student body was invited to participate with the monastic and oblate community in a Mass that commemorated such a great man of the Church -- a man that helped to save Western Christianity through his famous Rule, yes, but also through his ability to join believers together in a common fraternity and love.
St. Benedict, pray for us, that we may be made worthy to share with you in the Beatific Vision!
